Creating care-full urban spaces: two perspectives of planning for caring cities
There is a growing interest in how cities can be reshaped through care-focused policies and practices and how urban success might be redefined by how well we care for people, places, and the planet.

About the panel:
Moderator
The panel will be moderated by Liv Zetterberg (Umeå University) who is a researcher and teacher in social work, focusing on social sustainability, housing policies and the creation of social capital in residential areas.
Panelists
Dr Miriam Williams is a Senior Lecturer in Geography and Planning in the School of Communication, Society and Culture at Macquarie University, Australia, whose work focuses on how urban life could be made more just and caring for people and planet. Miriam is currently working on a research project with the NSW Government on The Power of Public Spaces, researching care-informed planning, and co-authoring a book on Cities that Care: towards caring urbanisms with A/Prof Emma Power for the University of Minnesota Press.
Laura Tami Leal (Women Affairs Secretary) and Ana María Buriticá Alzate (Advisor Women Affairs) from Bogotá, Colombia. The city of Bogotá, is tackling the gendered burden of unpaid care work through an innovative approach called Care Blocks, placing caregivers at the center of the policy and service delivery design. Bogotá's Urban Master Plan has adopted a gender perspective with the inclusion of women-oriented care blocks at the core of its territorial planning to create an equitable and safe city for women and people of all diversities.
